I am a 5'6" 160 pound female.. Some people say this is healthy, and i dont look it. I would still like to tone up my muscle some..i want to slim down my tummy just a little..Im American/ French so im not built like a stick..I run at least 5 miles everymorning. so running isnt really helping ~bay~
Answer:
If you are running 5 miles every morning, you are doing plenty enough exercising. And rock on for that. There are women I run with who are my height and 30 lbs heavier but much faster than I am. If anyone doubts that you can be fit and "overweight" simultaneously, they probably don't have the same experiences you and I do. Women definitely are built differently, and while "sticks" may claim you are overweight, you could probably easily outrun them.
If you'd still like to lose a few pounds, you could try to eat smaller portions.
And for tone, do a variety of ab exercises to keep things fun and exciting.Good luck!
When we want to get rid of body fat, there is no way to specifically burn fat from one part of the body. Doing situps won't burn the fat that is covering your abs and doing tricep extensions won't get rid of the fat that is covering your triceps. The only thing you can do is lose weight all around and eventually the problem area will also improve. The way to burn fat is through a calorie restricted diet in conjunction with an exercise routine that will burn calories. Activities that burn calories include running, biking, swimming and other high intensity activities.Guide to Reducing Body Fat - http://www.straighthealth.com/pages/guid...
Crunches. Crunches. Crunches.Seriously, this will tone up your abs and doesn't require any fancy exercise equipment. Keep in mind, you can't "spot reduce"; however, the crunches will firm up your "tummy" and while it might not look "slimmer", it will look and feel much better!
you run five miles, and still think of yourself as not looking fine.(you may not realize it, but body image may be the issue, not actual weight or fitness) 160 is a bit overweight for someone 5/6", but not obese by any means. Suggest you try cross training, alternate running with swimming. That might rev up your metabolism a bit and help you lose some over all weight. You can exercise to tone muscles in a certain spot, but you can't diet to lose weight in a certain spot, the body doesn't work that way.
I am 5'10 1/2 and I weigh less than you,,, you are overweight you need to revise your diet and exercise plan, if running is not working try weights, and eliminate more calories from your diet.
PS I also run 7 miles a day, 6 days a week. and do weight lifting 3 times a week, and yoga 2 times a week.SO MUCH FOR STICKS LOL
No, running will not tone you up but weightlifting will~
try not to eat to much fat food and eat a lot of fruits and veg and try to drink a lot of water and less sweet drink,(pleas pick me as best answer).
Do you eat healthy ? Exercise alone won't help if you eat more calories than you burn.A combination of healthy diet, minimum 30 min exercise a day, and strength training should help.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
