I need to lose some weight. I know small portions help but how small and of what?

here are some examples:meat, chicken and fish- the size of your palm
cheese- the tip of your thumb
nuts- small handful
grains of pasta- one fist
cereal- two fists
fruits and veggies- one fist or more200 calorie snacks:
brownie- ring box
fruit salad- magic 8 ball
ice cream- tennis ball
piece of cake- sidekick
