I want to go on a diet but I'm 14 and my mum cooks for me.?

We're a Japanese family and they always eat heaps for dinner. I don't want to but I can't get away with not eating much. What should I do? Any ideas?
Answer:
First, are you seriously overweight, or do you just want to be thinner? Because if it's the latter, 14 is too young to be worrying about dieting. Just eat a healthy variety of foods, get lots of exercise, drink lots of water, and live a happy life. If you are actually overweight, then go to the doctor and get her/him to talk to your family about your dietary needs. Maybe if the doctor tells them how much and what you need to eat it will be easier for you.If you feel pressured to eat more than you want to by your family (and you are a healthy weight or on the heavy side right now), that is not good. Have you tried talking to your family? If that doesn't work, then have a couple of big glasses of water before eating, and tell your family that you filled up on water. Or get a babysitting job or something where you aren't eating at home every day. Hope this helps.
when eating eat smaller portions of food
and try to exercise more. drink lots of water and take ur vitamins
14? and on a diet? That can't be healthy for you. But if you really think you need it, then you can always ask for a little less food (Saying your not very hungry.) or if your serving yourself, serve yourself less.Only options I can think of...
I would explain to your parents that you want to take an active role in planning and cooking meals. Start with one night a week, get a great healthy cookbook or get recipes from the internet, and start with something simple. Even if they don't love the food, they will love that you are helping with meals. They shouldn't be forcing food down your throat, anyway. It is up to you to say that you are full. Just make sure that you are dieting the healthy way, and not just starving yourself.
yes tell your mum you want to cook for yourself.
my girl friend was a size 18 when she was 15. she refused to eat the food that her mum cooked for her, and only ate what she prepared herself. knowing what healthy nonfat foods to eat. she is now a size 12 and has been for 20 years.
Do some research. Show it to your mom. It is healthiest to eat six small meals a day. You can eat as many veggies as you want. As long as they are not greasy. Exercise is very important. Walking being the best. How much do you weigh? If it's not a lot for your age and height, you really shouldn't worry about it. Otherwise, I'd do the research and talk to your mum. Every parent should want a healthy child. Obesity is not healthy. You can look it up on line or try doctors , gyms, weight management agencies, even through your school. Good luck.
