I tried doing side crunches, and I didn't feel my obliques being worked at all. What am I doing wrong?

I'm doing the side crunch where you lay your legs flat to one side, and do a crunch with your torso and head facing upwards.
Answer:
Obliques work when there is rotation occurring through the torso. Try a standing wood chop with the nautilus machine if you have access to one at your gym. This is a great exercise because it works the legs at the same time, and you can vary the amount of power you put into the chop. I'm sure you already know that you will only see the muscles after you decrease your body fat.
